Please tell us a little about yourself and how you first got involved in the Co-op.
Having owned a successful grocery store of our own, as well as having operated various others, my wife and I know how much a good store matters to its neighbors. We joined the Co-op in 2011 because we believe in its importance as a part of our community and its future.
What made you decide to run for election to the Board of Directors?
In August we decided to attend our first board meeting, to see what we could do personally in assisting with the project. Based on our previous experience, we thought that there must be something we could offer. When we learned of the upcoming elections, I decided to run. My wife, meanwhile, has attended meetings of the Events Committee.
What do you hope to contribute to the Board’s operations? What past experience do you bring that could help move our operations forward?
Using my skills and experiences from my past grocery endeavors is a key part of what I can bring. I am hopeful that I will be able to contribute ideas to the team of board members and member-owners to create a vibrant and valuable co-op for Kitsap County’s citizens.
Beyond that, do you have ideas about specific things you’d like to do as a member of the Board?
I know the new year will bring exciting changes to our organization. For now I’m enjoying the collaboration with the other talented, passionate people on the board and looking forward to working with more of you as volunteers.
Anything else you’d like us to know about you and your hopes for the Co-op?
With such a varying and broad spectrum of backgrounds among our membership, I know each hand that joins the endeavor will bring something unique to the project and its success.
